Program Penguatan Kompetensi Guru merupakan salah satu program kerja kurikulum yang mulai dirancangkan pada tahun 2021. Melalui program tersebut sekolah melaksanakan kegiatan-kegiatan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi tenaga pendidik yang pada akhirnya berdampak pada peningkatan mutu pembelajaran UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Kalabahi.

“Menghadapi masa pandemik, berdasarkan arahan dari Dinas Pendidikan, UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Kalabahi mengambil langkah-langkah antisipatif agar pembelajaran tetap dapat berjalan memenuhi kebutuhan peserta didik dengan tetap menjaga kesehatan dan keselamatan semua pihak. Sekolah melaksanakan belajar dari rumah (BDR) secara daring dengan memberdayakan akun belajar dari kemdikbud melakukan migrasi moda belajar dari WA grup ke aplikasi google kelas. Aplikasi google kelas ini merupakan aplikasi yang baru oleh karena itu itu pengenalan akan aplikasi ini perlu dilakukan. Berdasarkan kajian tersebut, sekolah melalui bidang kurikulum melaksanakan kegiatan bimbingan teknis (bimtek) penggunaan google classroom bagi guru-guru mata pelajaran sebagai bentuk pelaksanaan program penguatan kompetensi guru,” demikian penjelasan Ketua Tim Penyelenggara Bimtek, Oktovianus Fobia, S.Pd., M.M dalam laporannya kepada Kepala UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Kalabahi, Muhamad Masang, S.Pd.

Adapun tujuan pelaksanaan kegiatan bimtek penggunaan google classroom adalah untuk memperkenalkan aplikasi google classroom sebagai moda pembelajaran daring bagi guru mata pelajaran dan peserta didik UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Kalabahi dimana dengan mengikuti bimtek diharapkan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru mata pelajaran UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Kalabahi lebih meningkat dalam menggunakan aplikasi google classroom untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran.

Mengingat kegiatan bimtek penggunaan aplikasi google kelas tersebut diselenggarakan pada masa pandemi, maka protokol kesehatan tetap diterapkan selama kegiatan berlangsung. Penggunaan masker, handsanitiser, dan pembatasan jumlah peserta untuk dilakukan untuk mengurangi dampak penularan covid-19. Peserta dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok yang difasilitasi oleh empat fasilitator, yakni Kepala Lab. TIK, Heni Ana Parera, S.Kom, dan staf kurikulum: Sutarmadi Usman, S.Pd, Irwanto Duru Paddang, S.Pd, dan Maksi Klaping Maubuthy, M.Pd. Kegiatan berlangsung dengan teratur dengan memanfaatkan empat ruang IT yang dimiliki SMP Negeri 1 Kalabahi.

Kegiatan interen sekolah yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 20 s.d. 23 Januari 2021 tersebut menghadirkan Kepala Sekolah sebagai pengarah. Dalam arahannya, Kepala Sekolah mengharapkan agar hal-hal yang dipelajari oleh guru-guru dapat diteruskan kepada peserta didik, terutama oleh wali kelas dalam kunjungannya saat melakukan monitoring BDR. Hal ini perlu dilakukan agar peserta didik dapat memahami penggunaan aplikasi google kelas tersebut sehingga membantu guru-guru dalam proses pembelajaran.

Lebih lanjut Kepala Sekolah menyatakan bahwa meskipun keadaan akan kembali normal, SMP Negeri 1 Kalabahi akan tetap menjalankan pembelajaran secara hybrid, yakni gabungan dari mode luring dan daring, mengingat kedepannya, kehidupan akan bergantung pada teknologi yang canggih. Untuk itu peserta didik harus dipersiapkan sejak saat ini.
